First of all: Congratulations to all of you who were able to purchase Italian cases!
We sold out much faster than we expected. Demand was so high, in fact, that we’re already trying to secure a few extra cases of our upcoming French shipment (which will include a Champagne, as well as that roi du Rhône “Télégramme” – yes, THAT Télégramme of Châteauneuf-du-Pape – we literally got the last of the supply our connection had)...
Anyway, we need to get you your wines, so we’ll keep things short this week… You can check out Julien’s latest video below, in which he continues to unravel the mystique of Champagne… including some facts that very few people know about this fascinating wine… plus his all-time favorite Champagne brands (there’s a lot more variety than you think)…
[If you missed part one, which aired last week, you can catch up by clicking here.]
In other news, we had a tasting for our friends at the Oxford Club yesterday – a great success. Editor Alex Green was blown away by the Bolgheri and the Barolo (“Gosh, I didn’t realize you guys were for real!”)…
...which had Steve McDonald shaking his head, insisting that Cheval des Andes, a Bordeaux blend from Mendoza, Argentina, was the superior wine…
Meanwhile Marc Lichtenfeld thought they were both missing the intense pleasures to be found in the two high-altitude Malbecs we brought: a 2016 from Colomé (next door to Gualfin, our ranch), and of course, our own 2015 Reserve Tacana.
Next week, we hope to get an update on the recent wine harvest in France as we prepare for our next quarterly shipment.
Until then,
Bonner Private Wine Partnership
