How to remove this wax wine seal. Most people, including myself until now, actually think you need to cut the wax around like you would cut the foil off with your little knife and you might have seen me do that when I introduce you with the beautiful bottles that we send you from the club, because I didn't know how to do it better.

Yes, I was trained as a winemaker, not a sommelier. And wine service wasn't part of the training, I'm afraid. Making wine was. Plus I was trained in Bordeaux as a winemaker some 20 plus years ago, and wax seals weren't nearly as common as they are today. They were really rare and only exclusively for high end European wines usually; now you see them everywhere and they have different colors.

They used to be red, now they’re blue and purple and golden and so on. So apparently this is a much better way, an easier way to do it. So let's see if it works. I haven't actually done this so much myself. What you do is that you take a normal corkscrew, your preferred favorite corkscrew, and you screw it in aiming for the center of the cork like you would normally do, and you screw it in.

It's easy. It's easy, you screw it in, you screw it in, maybe not completely, entirely, just leave a little bit of the screw out. It'll make it easier. And then what you do is that you leverage as you would normally do, and you pull and you pull and you pull. And that didn't work.

And in this case, well, it didn't work. It pulled the whole thing right off, which is not ideal. Well, I didn't work. Yeah, that didn't work. Okay. That didn't work at all. this one pulled the whole the whole wax out. All right. I'm going to have to try this again. next week, I will try this again with a different bottle.

so, yeah, maybe this technique doesn't work. This one I think you would have had, to cut it off. Let's try. If you cut it off, it'll probably work a lot better on this one. but the theory goes that you're not supposed to do that. Well, in this case, it would have worked a lot better. I'll see you soon.
