Tacuil RD | 2019 | Calchaquí Valley, Argentina

Limited Time Offer

8,198 feet
Winemaker behind Mayuco and Tacana
Organically grown
Hand-harvested
No oak

If you’ve had a bottle of Tacana or Mayuco, then you know winemaker Raúl Dávalos and his bodega at Tacuil. With “RD” (named for his father, of whom it is said that he defended his land from socialist expropriators by welcoming unannounced visitors with a rifle), we add another stellar – yet rarely available - vintage to our collection.

If this is your first Dávalos wine, here’s a summary: Raúl’s ancestor, Spanish general Don Nicolás Severo de Isasmendi, first arrived in the Calchaquí Valley during a series of frontier wars of byzantine complexity in their aims and belligerent.

He founded what is now the oldest winery in Argentina, with French vines carried over the Andes by his daughter Ascensión. Two hundred years later, in his isolated little valley,Raúl still hews to the old ways – wild yeast, organic grapes, unfiltered, unoaked. This RD is enigmatic on the nose, but full bodied on the palate with classic Calchaquí berries and herbs.

Tigerstone Garnacha | 2018 | Salta, Argentina

Limited Time Offer

From Winemaker of the Year, Alejandro Sejanovich (Tim Atkin Argentina Wine 2021 Special Report)
5,200 feet

The Tigerstone wines, named after the striped, angular rocks found in the highest lots in the Estancia los Cardones vineyards, are their most concentrated wines.

The bluish slab soils that cover the upper part of Tolombón's vineyard - as happens in some regions of the French Rhone where Garchana dominates - was what prompted Alejandro "Colo" Sejanovich (winemaker) to plant this variety in the most stony area of the vineyard.

A small production that today brings the first Garnacha from Argentina to your glass. Dark, almost black color, aromas of ripe, dark fruits, & the signature of Salta in the wild, herbaceous notes.

Luca G-Lot Pinot Noir | 2018 | Valle de Uco, Argentina

Limited Time Offer

The 4,500 ft Pinot
Locally-owned vineyards
94 points, James Suckling
92 points, Wine Advocate

Winemaker Laura Catena, daughter of Argentinian wine pioneer Nicolas Catena, creates small batches of artisan-quality wines, striving to capture the nature of their individual terroirs.

Catena has a vision of a new breed of Argentine wines, ones which rely on small, locally-owned vineyards, each vinification produced in small quantities, each a true expression of its own terroir. She uses only the best fruit from select high-altitude, low-yield vineyards, often working with small growers all over the Uco Valley to source the best, most interesting harvests.

With this wine, Luca Vineyards made history as the first to plant Pinot Noir at over 4,500 feet – the highest elevations in Mendoza for this varietal. Located in Gualtallary, they called the vineyard the G-Lot.

Modern winemaking practices and primarily French oak aging elevate these wines to the level demanded by true wine connoisseurs. This Argentinian pinot is made in the cool-climate Burgundian style. Garnet color, with strawberry, cola root, and leather on the nose. Complex on the palate, with spices and raspberry jam. Fresh finish.

A note about our Satisfaction Guarantee: Wines, sadly, are not like power tools. A hardware store can always resell a hammer you used a couple times. Not so for a bottle of wine. Once you pop the cork, it’s a total loss to us. For that reason, we cannot offer full refunds on these offers. But don’t worry, if the wine arrives and there’s something wrong with it, just give us a call and we’ll do what we can to make it right. As a Bonner Private Wine Partnership member, your satisfaction is all-important to us.
