What's In The Thanksgiving Collection

Sunal Ilógico Criolla | 2020 | Calchaqui Valley, Argentina

One of Argentina’s original wine grapes brought to the country by Spanish conquistadors

The grape of Argentina’s high desert villages
Beaujolais of the Andes

Sometime around 1900, someone planted a few vines on a small Indian farmstead at the northern edge of the Calchaquí Valley.

If you’ve had Sunal Ilógico, then you’ve had malbec
from Luracatao before. But this vintage is not a malbec but a criolla, with grapes from a different part of Luracatao known as Cuchi Pampa.

“Criolla” is a blanket term for various hybrids that evolved from Spanish grapes brought to the new world in the 1500s. The most famous criolla is the white wine grape torrontés. But the criolla we have here is a red grape. Nothing to do with torrontés at all. Its precise genetic makeup remains a mystery – a long-lost European varietal (like the carmenere discovered in Chile)?

Indeed, on the palate this criolla feels familiar – a lighter red with a nose of dates, dried roses, and spice; a “Beaujolais of the Andes” if you will.

Arca Yaco Amar Y Vivir Cabernet Sauvignon | 2020 | Calchaquí Valley, Argentina

6,800+ feet
From the winemaking legacy of Bodega Etchart
Tim Atkin’s Wine of the Year 2020 & 2021

Founded in 1850, Bodega Etchart’s Arnaldo B. wine has won no fewer than 52 medals, including Gold at the Mondial de Bruxelles. But recently, Matias Etchart, the latest in the dynasty, decided to try something else. Arca Yaco is a small farm alongside a creek, nestled in an oasis high in the Calchaquí Valley. There, winemaker Matias Etchart harvests malbec and cabernet sauvignon grapes in the shade of fig and walnut trees.

The resulting wine, Amar y Vivir (a reference to an old bolero song sung by his uncle Arnaldo), is a personal statement – a memoir fermented and aged in oak. This 100% cabernet sauvignon is subtle, floral, and refined, with notes of fresh herbs and blackcurrant, soft tannins, and a long, complex finish. Amar y Vivir is a wine to remind us, even in these times, that life is to be lived.

Vieil Armand Rendez-vous Pinot Noir | 2020 | Alsace, France

The Pine Forest Gold
2,962 bottles only
Gold Medal Lyon 2021
Pinot noir

Vieil Armand Wine Estate is an 80-family Alsatian cooperative winery situated just half an hour from the German border. The majority of them are still cultivating family vineyards they have worked for more than 4 generations, and Alsatian pinot is now a real contender with the Burgundians to the south.

Vieil Armand practices sustainable agriculture through the French “High Environmental Value'' program. Level 3 is the highest level, providing the certification HVE (high environmental value) for the entire farm operation. To attain this level winemakers must meet performance requirements on biodiversity, use of pesticides, fertilizers, water management.

Rendez-Vous comes from four distinct plots over marl and sandstone. The wine sat in oak for 12 months – exactly what the grapes needed after the broiling 2020 season. You can smell the forest here with notes of dark cherry and woodland berries; in the mouth a wine at first bold, then silky with a long, delicate finish. This is an extremely limited production, with nice aging potential.

About the Bonner Private Wine Partnership

Founded by Will Bonner, the Partnership is a group of wine lovers who come together to import great, small batch wines that might otherwise get overlooked by large importers.

No middle men. No additive-packed supermarket wines. No inflated costs.

WE CANNOT SHIP TO THESE STATES:

Arkansas, Delaware, Mississippi, Utah

If you live in one of these states, you’ll need to select an alternative delivery destination.

*Note: Shipping is available to Alaska & Hawaii for additional fee*

Please be aware: We cannot deliver to P.O. boxes.

An adult signature is required for all shipments of alcohol.

A note about our Satisfaction Guarantee: Wines, sadly, are not like power tools. A hardware store can always resell a hammer you used a couple times. Not so for a bottle of wine. Once you pop the cork, it’s a total loss to us. For that reason, we cannot offer full refunds on these offers. But don’t worry, if the wine arrives and there’s something wrong with it, just give us a call and we’ll do what we can to make it right. As a member, your satisfaction is all-important to us.
