More Information

MontGras has vineyards throughout Chile’s great wine regions, but of particular interest to us are those set high in the “Alto Maipo” section of the Maipo Valley, the oldest of the Chilean regions. Vineyards were first planted here, in the foothills of the Andes, in 1865, on rock soils washed down from the mountains over thousands of years. You can’t get much, wine or otherwise, out of soils like this. Yields are low; quality and concentration are high. Deep soils, low fertility and good drainage allow the production of world-class wines.

This “Intriga” 2021 comes from the highest part of Maipo, technically called Maipo Alta, where the yields are lowest and the concentrations highest. Notes of red and black fruit in the nose shatter as Intriga explodes into a fireball of red plum, gooseberries, and cassis.
