The 2020 Chappellet Signature Cabernet Sauvignon is the flagship wine of one of Napa Valley’s most iconic family-owned estates. Produced from mountain vineyards perched between 800 and 1,800 feet on Pritchard Hill, this Cabernet captures the concentration and elegance that have made the region legendary. Dry, rocky volcanic soils, meticulous hand harvesting, and careful crop thinning produce intensely flavored fruit with remarkable depth and aging potential. The wine is then aged for 22 months in 60% new French oak, adding refinement while allowing the character of the vineyard to shine.
In the glass, it opens with expressive aromas of black cherry, dark plum, roasted coffee, bittersweet chocolate, clove, fresh herbs, and warm baking spices. The palate is lush and layered, revealing flavors of boysenberry, cassis, violet, anise, cinnamon, and sweet oak. Bright acidity and firm mountain tannins provide exceptional balance, carrying the wine through a long, dramatic finish that promises years of graceful evolution.
