Jose “Pepe” Galante is widely considered the most important winemaker in Argentina’s history. Chief winemaker at Catena Zapata from 1976 until 2010, he showed for the first time that Argentina could make world-class wines. Founded in 2010, Puramun is Pepe’s first-ever personal project, owned by his family.
With this Reserva Chardonnay he seeks an elegant and complex wine with flavors of citrus and a chalky minerality that reflects its Paraje Altamira terroir. At 3,500 feet, these vines are subject to harsh sun and very little rainfall. Soils are sand, silt and stone. Once a river bed, there is plenty of gravel in the topsoil, providing good drainage to the vines. The soil contains very little organic material, which helps reduce yields & increase the quality of the grapes. Volcanic material in the soil from the Tupungato volcano provides plenty of minerals for vine health.
A bold and round style with a pale, bright straw-yellow color. Ripe stone fruits, pineapple, baking spices and a hint of sweet nutty oak on the nose. Weighty peach and orange flavors hold through a long finish.

Middle Reach of Russian River Valley
At the town of Jenner, the Russian River flows into the Pacific. Head inland to the Russian River Valley. If you hate gaudy CA chards, the valley’s Middle Reach – the area closest to the river – is where you’ll find the crisp, earthy chardonnay for you.
This 2019 came from a vineyard above the cloud line (1,000 ft.) where the grapes stayed cool to produce a chardonnay with as many twists, turns, chasms, and cliffs, as the coast itself. Don’t fall in. Leave open for 40 mins then place in fridge for 15 mins to chill. Pair with mushrooms, pork, fish, and popcorn.

Old Wente clones
In 1912, German immigrant C.H. Wente brought chardonnay vines from Burgundy to California. Eight years later, most Californian vines were lost to Prohibition. Wente’s original Burgundy vines (called “Old Wente”) survived. 105 years later, clones from those Old Wente vines were thriving in the rocky, basalt soil of Sojourn’s Durell Vineyard. And then winds came, fanning a small flame in a nearby forest. 2017 will go down as a lost year for many Sonoma vineyards. If their vines weren’t destroyed entirely, their grapes were slowly suffocated by thick, black smoke for days on end.
Fortunately, Sojourn’s grapes, harvested at night, came off the vine just in time. They were then whole-bunch pressed to produce a vibrant, zingy chardonnay. No obnoxious oak-barrel-filled-with-butter here. The nose is a basket of freshly picked citrus, stone fruit, and tropicals. Silky on the palate, this wine gets the mouth salivating – perfect for late afternoon refreshment.

A note about our Satisfaction Guarantee: Wines, sadly, are not like power tools. A hardware store can always resell a hammer you used a couple times. Not so for a bottle of wine. Once you pop the cork, it’s a total loss to us. For that reason, we cannot offer full refunds on these offers. But don’t worry, if the wine arrives and there’s something wrong with it, just give us a call and we’ll do what we can to make it right. As a Bonner Private Wine Partnership member, your satisfaction is all-important to us.
