1. Viñedos Calcu Cabernet Sauvignon (2019) Originating from the granite-rich hills of Marchigüe in the Colchagua Valley, Chile, this wine is the result of meticulous vineyard management by the Hurtado family, who have been cultivating quality wines for over a century. The proximity to the Pacific Ocean imparts a unique freshness and elegance to this Cabernet Sauvignon, which is further enhanced by notes of crunchy black cherries and red plums. With its refined structure and deep personality, this wine pairs beautifully with a cheese course or a classic spaghetti alla bolognese.

2. Casa Silva Cabernet Sauvignon (2020) From the oldest cellar in the Colchagua Valley, Chile, comes this award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon, crafted by the Silva family. Known for its dark ruby color and pungent red fruit and spice aromas, this wine embodies the best of Chilean viticulture. The cool air descending from the Andes creates ideal conditions for developing its silky tannins and balanced acidity. This Cabernet Sauvignon is a perfect match for powerful dishes like barbecued meats or rich stews, and it has the potential to age gracefully for up to 15 years.

3. MontGras Intriga Cabernet Sauvignon (2020) Hailing from the esteemed Alto Maipo region of Chile, MontGras Intriga is a powerful and characterful Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted on rocky alluvial soils at the foothills of the Andes, the low-yield vines produce grapes of exceptional concentration. With a deep ruby color and intense flavors of red plums, gooseberries, and cassis, this wine is full-bodied with a persistent finish. Ideal for pairing with hearty dishes, it is a testament to the high-quality winemaking of the region.

4. Arca Yaco Amar y Vivir Cabernet Sauvignon (2020) A product of the high-altitude vineyards in Quebrada de San Lucas, Argentina, this Cabernet Sauvignon is both intense and gentle. The wine is made by Matías Etchart, whose family has a long history of winemaking in the Calchaquí Valley. The vineyard’s challenging desert conditions are mitigated by fresh meltwater from the Andes, resulting in a wine with soft tannins and juicy blackcurrant flavors, accented by the signature bell pepper aroma of the varietal. This limited production wine (only 2,340 bottles) is perfect for aging and pairs wonderfully with rich lamb dishes or hard cheeses.

5. Anko Flor de Cardon Cabernet Sauvignon (2019) Crafted by Catena alumni Jeff Mausbach and Alejandro Sejanovich in Salta, Argentina, Anko Flor de Cardon offers a unique expression of high-altitude viticulture. The vineyard’s rocky, shallow soils, combined with splintered shale and crushed mica, yield a wine of exceptional concentration. Spicy and peppery, this Cabernet Sauvignon is fruit-forward with a clean, dry finish, making it an excellent companion for red meat and stews. It’s a wine that promises complexity and finesse, with the potential to age for up to 10 years.

6. Casarena Owen’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (2019) From the historic Luján de Cuyo region in Mendoza, Argentina, comes this elegant and robust Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard, first planted in 1933, features an astonishing variety of soils that give the wine its complexity and depth. With aromas of red and black fruits, cherries, and subtle notes of coffee, this wine is both vibrant and refined. It boasts round tannins and a persistent finish, making it an ideal match for red meats and sharp cheeses. This wine is designed for longevity, capable of aging for 15 years or more.
