From the high-altitude vineyards of El Monte Alto de Pesquera—perched at 3,000 feet above sea level—comes a Tempranillo that bridges tradition and modernity. The 2021 Tinto Pesquera MXI is the freshest expression yet from Bodegas Tinto Pesquera, a hallmark name in Ribera del Duero, and part of a new project by the iconic Fernández Rivera family.
Crafted entirely from estate-grown Tempranillo, this wine reflects the unique terroir of sandy-loam soils, long dry summers, and optimal ripening conditions at elevation. It was aged for 14 months in a mix of wooden vats, concrete tanks, and 225-liter oak barrels—lending a layered complexity without overpowering the fruit.
On the nose, MXI bursts with aromas of ripe blackberries, crushed violets, and hints of licorice and spice. The palate is lush yet lively, showing black fruit, balsamic depth, and a vibrant acidity that gives the wine both energy and poise. A long, round finish lingers with subtle oak and freshness.
Drink it now, slightly chilled, alongside grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or Spain’s finest Jamón Ibérico de Bellota.
