Altocedro, meaning “tall cedar,” represents both winemaker and owner Karim Mussi Saffie’s Lebanese-Argentine heritage, and the ancient cedar trees which tower over his winery. Karim, for years dedicated to the grapes of La Consulta, was the first to pioneer this now-famous region.
Saffie’s original old vine rootstocks (from 80 year old vines), indigenous yeasts, hundred year-old concrete fermentation tanks, and minimalist winemaking techniques create true terroir-driven wines. Lucid aromas of sweet figs and prunes, and cherry compote. Very generous fruit in the middle with firm, lightly chewy tannin and moderate length.
