The Agustín Lanús Birthday Collection
Some winemakers make great wine. Others redefine what’s possible.
Agustín Lanús has built his reputation exploring some of the highest vineyards on Earth, crafting wines that simply couldn’t exist anywhere else. This exclusive three-bottle collection brings together his signature expressions from Argentina’s breathtaking Calchaquí Valleys, where extreme altitude, intense sunlight, and dramatic day-to-night temperature swings create wines of remarkable freshness, concentration, and character.
Inside you’ll discover three completely different interpretations of Argentina’s mountain terroir.
SUNAL Ilógico Malbec 2019
Grown at an astonishing 8,950 feet above sea level, this organic Malbec comes from one of the highest vineyards in the world. The surrounding mountains and sun-warmed rocks protect the vines while the extreme elevation produces extraordinary concentration.
The result is a deeply colored Malbec with notes of blackberry, violet, graphite, and black olive that stand apart from the richer, jammy style most drinkers expect. Laboratory testing has shown resveratrol levels up to 10 times higher than many conventional wines, while containing 93% less sugar than typical grocery store reds. Unoaked to preserve its remarkable purity and freshness.
SUNAL Exploración Criolla Chica 2022
A rare expression of Argentina’s winemaking heritage, this 100% Criolla Chica comes from Luracatao in the high-altitude Calchaquí Valleys. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for 12 months in concrete eggs, it offers a completely different experience than modern commercial reds.
Expect aromas of cherry, kumquat, and wild herbs with a light, energetic palate balanced by bright acidity, fine tannins, and striking mineral character. It’s a fascinating bottle that celebrates one of Argentina’s historic grape varieties while showcasing Agustín’s commitment to preserving the country’s viticultural heritage.
FACÓN Selection Syrah 2019
Completing the collection is a mountain-grown Syrah that captures the savory side of high-altitude winemaking. Dark fruit, cracked black pepper, structured tannins, and vibrant acidity come together in a wine that’s powerful without feeling heavy.
Its freshness and balance make it equally enjoyable on its own or alongside grilled meats, hearty stews, and aged cheeses.
A Collection You Won’t Find Anywhere Else
These wines represent the adventurous spirit that has made Agustín Lanús one of Argentina’s most compelling winemakers. From one of the world’s highest vineyards to rare heritage varieties and mountain-grown Syrah, every bottle tells the story of a place where few vines can survive—and where extraordinary wines are born.
