From Spain’s famed Ribera del Duero region comes this elegant and expressive 41N Vendimia Seleccionada 2016, a 100% Tempranillo crafted in small quantities by the team at 41 Norte Boutique Winery. With just about 8,400 bottles produced, this vintage represents the kind of limited-production Spanish wine rarely seen outside the region.
In the glass, it shows a deep dark cherry color with a garnet rim, immediately signaling its concentration and maturity. The nose is intense and complex, led by ripe dark fruits like blackberry and blueberry, supported by notes of redcurrant, raspberry, sweet spice, and balsamic herbs. Subtle creamy and lactic nuances add an unexpected freshness to the bouquet.
On the palate, the wine opens smooth and fleshy, revealing a balanced structure with rounded tannins and layered fruit. As it evolves, notes of ripe wild berries, cherry liqueur, nutmeg, pepper, graphite, and earthy spice emerge, reflecting both the character of the Tempranillo grape and its 12 months of aging in new French oak barrels.
