Matías Etchart could’ve taken the easy road. He could’ve ridden on his family’s legacy—his grandfather founded Bodegas Etchart, one of Argentina’s most iconic wineries.
Instead, he took a different route: a hard one.
He carved out a vineyard at 6,800 feet above sea level, in a place so dry and unforgiving that most people wouldn’t even bother trying. Quebrada de San Lucas isn’t exactly Napa Valley.
