Sunal Ilógico
Malbec 2019  ·  Luracatao Vineyard  ·  8,950 ft

When winemaker Augustín Lanús first fermented grapes from this vineyard, the wine's color was so extraordinarily dense with natural pigment that it permanently stained his stainless steel fermentation vats red. He called it Ilógico — illogical — because nothing about it made sense by modern winemaking standards.

Notes of black olive, violet, graphite, and dark fruit. A finish that holds. The color of ink. The ingredient list of a wine made exactly the way wine was made before anyone invented an additive to improve it.

This is a U.S. exclusive through Bonner Private Wine Partnership. It does not exist on any retail shelf. The entire vintage typically sells out within 24 hours on private South American buyer lists.

"Amazing wines and a great story. I was very inspired."

Phil Crozier · Named England's Top Sommelier

"Blind tasting category winner — the most distinctive malbec I've encountered from this region."

Joaquin Aberdi · Argentina's Premier Wine Curator

"My number one wine of the year. Nothing else came close."

Mariano Obrega · Wine Critic

"The color alone tells you something extraordinary happened here. This is what wine looks like when altitude does the work."

Julien Miquel · Sommelier, formerly of Chateau Margaux
Will Bonner

"The first time I tasted Sunal, I sat completely still for thirty seconds. I'd tasted a lot of wine. Nothing had prepared me for it. The color, the finish, the complete absence of anything artificial — it was like tasting the difference between a real tomato from a garden and a supermarket tomato, except the stakes were higher."

100% Satisfaction Guarantee

If you're not completely satisfied with your Sunal Ilógico, contact us within 30 days and we'll make it right. You keep the wine. No questions, no hassle, no return shipping required. We stand behind every bottle we source — because we've tasted every bottle we source.

Why can't I find this wine at my local store?
Sunal Ilógico is produced in very small quantities at one of the most remote vineyards in the world. The entire vintage typically sells out within 24 hours to private South American buyer lists. U.S. retail distribution would require volumes that don't exist. Bonner Private Wine Partnership sources it directly from the producer, bypassing the three-tier distribution system entirely — which is the only reason we can offer it at this price.
What does "zero filtration" actually mean for the wine?
Industrial filtration removes natural sediment, wild yeasts, and the compounds responsible for texture and complexity — it's done for shelf stability and visual consistency, not for taste. Unfiltered wine may have a slight natural sediment at the bottom of the bottle. This is not a defect — it's evidence that nothing has been stripped out. Decant before pouring if preferred.
Is the 10× resveratrol claim verified?
Yes. Independent lab testing compared Sunal Ilógico against standard California red wines and found resveratrol levels approximately 10 times higher. High altitude growing conditions stress the vine, which responds by producing higher concentrations of resveratrol as a natural defense mechanism. The near-black color of the wine is a direct visual indicator of this concentration.
What's the difference between buying bottles and joining the club?
Buying bottles is a one-time purchase — ideal if you want to try Sunal before committing to a subscription. The Wine Explorer's Club is a quarterly membership that includes Sunal plus five additional curated bottles each quarter, at a discounted price, with free shipping. Club members also get access to member pricing on individual bottles and early access to limited releases.
Which states can you ship to?
We cannot ship to Arkansas, Delaware, Mississippi, or Utah. Additional fees apply for Alaska and Hawaii. Someone 21 or older must be present to sign for delivery. We recommend shipping to a business address if you're not available during delivery hours.

Why Choose The Bonner Private Wine Partnership

About the Bonner Private Wine Partnership

The Bonner Private Wine Partnership is your passport to the world’s most extraordinary small-batch wines—sourced from remote, family-run vineyards across Europe and South America. We deliver handcrafted, additive-free wines you won’t find in stores… and the stories behind them. No middlemen. No mass production. Just real wine, for those who crave something rare.

WE CANNOT SHIP TO THESE STATES:

Arkansas, Delaware, Mississippi, Utah. If you live in one of these states, you’ll need to select an alternative delivery destination.

*Note: Shipping is available to Alaska & Hawaii for additional fee*

Please be aware: We cannot deliver to P.O. boxes. An adult signature is required for all shipments of alcohol.

A note about our Satisfaction Guarantee: Wines, sadly, are not like power tools. A hardware store can always resell a hammer you used a couple times. Not so for a bottle of wine. Once you pop the cork, it’s a total loss to us. For that reason, we cannot offer full refunds on these offers. But don’t worry, if the wine arrives and there’s something wrong with it, just give us a call and we’ll do what we can to make it right. As a customer, your satisfaction is all-important to us.
