Parts of Wahluke Slope, where these grapes are grown, are almost desert-like. So winemaker Charles Smith uses only recycled water. He also insists on crushing his grapes by foot and using only wild yeast. The result is unmistakably a powerful tempranillo, but with an elegant note of fresh cherry. Cellar 1-5 years.
