Anti-Prime Day: Skip the "BIG" Retailer & Shop Small

Note: We're bucking the trend of mass-market drivel and putting some of our often over-looked, small-batch wines from all over the world on an "Anti Prime Day" sale!

Below are 3 wines from unique winemakers & vineyards where wine is not just a business, but a passion, ... and who don't have the words "filler" or "bulk" in their vocabulary.

Calmel & Joseph Entre Amis | 2019 | Languedoc Pézenas, France

The “Languedoc Gold”

Organic
Gold Medal, Concours Terre de Vins 2022
Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache
4,860 bottles made

To the east of Provence, around the mouth of the Rhône River, hot, dry Languedoc is beloved in France, but not well known outside of it. (Partnership members may remember all-time favorites Domaine Ollier-Taillefer and L’intrus, both from the Languedoc.)

Award-winning Entre Amis (“between friends”), comes from Pézenas, a sunbaked medieval village built on schist rock (for Languedoc fans, it’s the same soil found in Faugères). Like any great Rhône syrah, Entre Amis comes in like a dagger. But don’t fear the tannin. We are between friends here after all. Almost immediately on impact the edge dissipates into soft white pepper, fresh cut figs and crushed strawberry – plus a touch of salt, from the nearby Mediterranean.

Close your eyes and you might just hear crickets chirping in seaside scrub. Fermented in concrete, then aged 12 months with 20% in oak. Just 4,860 bottles made.

Torelló Cava 2a 18/19 | Penedès, Spain

Organic
Long aging potential
Xarel.lo, Macabeo, Parellada
91 points, Guía Peñín

Winemakers since 1395 (Paco de la Rosa Torelló is the 23rd generation to stand at the helm), Torelló makes what used to be called Cava, and is now called Corpinnat, the result of a defection from the Cava DO (denominación de origen) towards a new, more exclusive Corpinnat DO by several of the top Cava producers from Penedès.

Torelló’s secret (one of many, we are sure) lies in a distinctive buildup of calcium carbonate in their soil, a “petrocalcic horizon” that both enriches the soil with minerals and limits the vines’ access to water.

The wine’s name references the two vintage years it contains: 2018 and 2019. The latter was wet with a delayed harvest. The former was blistering, as two heat waves rolled over Catalonia. The winemakers opted to combine the two extremes. The result has fine, clean bubbles, notes of citrus and pear, and is dry and well balanced with a touch of Mediterranean herbs.

Camperchi Campidivini La Chiusa Toscana | 2016 | Tuscany, Italy

The “Field of the Gods” Blend

Chianti terroir (non-DOCG)
2x Gold Medal Winner 2021
Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon, Petit verdot

A few thousand years ago, somewhere on the stony hills near the Camperchi winery, stood a temple in honor of Hercules. Thus, the name “Campidivini,” or fields of the gods.

Campidivini La Chiusa is a tribute to Camperchi’s first wine, a blend of carefully hand-picked grapes from their oldest vineyards. Winemaker Salvino Picone used his oldest vines, farmed organically (to “preserve the Tuscan soul” he says), and harvested by hand. For fermentation he opted for stainless steel (which, unlike oak, imparts none of its own flavor into the must).

Even at 6 years old, this Toscana still feels fresh, young even, with plum and violets in the nose, a burst of the same, with a bit of balsamic, in the mouth, and a long finish.

About the Bonner Private Wine Partnership

Founded by Will Bonner, the Partnership is a group of wine lovers who come together to import great, small batch wines that might otherwise get overlooked by large importers.

No middle men. No additive-packed supermarket wines. No inflated costs.

WE CANNOT SHIP TO THESE STATES:

Arkansas, Delaware, Mississippi, Utah

If you live in one of these states, you’ll need to select an alternative delivery destination.

*Note: Shipping is available to Alaska & Hawaii for additional fee*

Please be aware: We cannot deliver to P.O. boxes.

An adult signature is required for all shipments of alcohol.

A note about our Satisfaction Guarantee: Wines, sadly, are not like power tools. A hardware store can always resell a hammer you used a couple times. Not so for a bottle of wine. Once you pop the cork, it’s a total loss to us. For that reason, we cannot offer full refunds on these offers. But don’t worry, if the wine arrives and there’s something wrong with it, just give us a call and we’ll do what we can to make it right. As a member, your satisfaction is all-important to us.
