Why this bottle

Six reasons this is the Malbec to start with.

Everything below is on the label, on the tech sheet, or in a customer's own words. Nothing is padded.

The Luracatao valley, vines in the foreground and bare mountains behind
Reason 1

It comes from 8,950 feet, the third-highest vineyard in the world.

Luracatao is a valley above the valley. You leave Cafayate, where the tour buses stop, and drive north up the Calchaquí for the better part of a day. The road turns to dirt. Up there the sun is harder, the nights are colder, and the grapes ripen slowly with thick skins. That is where the colour and the grip come from.

Agustín Lanús, hands on hips, in the vineyard with the Andes behind
Reason 2

Agustín Lanús was the first person to make wine from it.

Nobody had bothered. He called the wine Ilógico, which is Spanish for what his friends said when he told them where he was planting. The first vintage came off the old vines so dark that it stained his stainless-steel vats red, and they stayed red.

Concrete eggs, Malbec Luracatao. No barrels in the room.
Reason 3

No oak. Concrete instead, so you taste the place, not a barrel.

He does almost nothing to it. Old vines. The yeasts that live on the grapes. Concrete rather than oak, so the fruit and the altitude do the talking. It is why the wine tastes like a valley instead of a style.

Reason 4

It is not in any store in the U.S.

The Ilógico comes to the United States through the Partnership and nowhere else. No distributor, no importer's cut, no retail tier. That is why a wine from the third-highest vineyard on Earth is $40 and not $65.

Reason 5

Black olive, violets, blackberry, and a graphite edge.

Dry, dark, and honest. Enough acid to cut fat and enough grip to survive smoke, which is why it belongs next to a bone-in ribeye or lamb off the coals. Aiden put it this way in his Google review: "The fats in the steak bring out flavors in the wine that would otherwise remain hidden." Drink it now and over the next two to three years.

Reason 6

1,732 bottles went out the door in the last twelve months.

It is the wine our members reorder. Ronald wrote that his first order was six bottles and he wished he had ordered twelve. There are 727 bottles of the 2019 in the warehouse today, and the number on this page is the real one.

How it works

1

Pick your bottles

Three or six. Six unlocks your card. Nothing renews and nothing is charged later.

2

We ship it

Shipped across the United States. An adult 21 or older signs for the box. We hold shipments in extreme heat so the wine arrives right.

3

Open it with something off the grill

Salt the ribeye an hour ahead. Coals, not flame. Open the Ilógico when the meat goes on, not when it comes off.

Our promise

If a bottle arrives damaged, corked, or spoiled, we replace it or credit you.

Write to us and we sort it out. No forms. And there is no subscription hiding behind this page: you pay once, for the bottles you chose.

Questions people ask

Why is it only $40?

No distributor, no importer's cut, no retail tier. The wine comes from Agustín to us to you, and we don't charge big markups. The bottle costs what it costs.

Is this a wine club or a subscription?

No. One-time purchase. Six bottles or three, paid once. Nothing renews and nothing is charged later.

How does the card work?

Pick one of three cards and tell us where to send it. Every card wins: 10% off, 20% off, or a free bottle of our Tacana Torrontés. Put six bottles in your order and the prize goes on at checkout; you will see it before you pay. One card per person, and it is good for seven days. We email you the code too.

Where does it ship?

Across the United States, except Arkansas, Delaware, Mississippi, and Utah, where the law does not let us deliver wine. We cannot ship to P.O. boxes. An adult 21 or older must sign for the delivery. We do not ship outside the U.S. from this page.

What does it taste like?

Black olive and violets on the nose, blackberry underneath, and a graphite edge that keeps it from being sweet. Dry, dark, and honest. Drink it now and over the next two to three years.

Can I order one bottle?

No. Three bottles is the smallest order we ship. Six is the one most people choose, because six unlocks your card.

Do I need to be 21?

Yes. You must be 21 or older to order, and the person who signs for the delivery must be 21 or older too.

Most of what we sell is harder to explain than this. There are wines in our cellar that took years to find and cost what they cost because there are nineteen cases of them. The Ilógico is not that. It is a $40 bottle from a man who planted where nobody thought to plant, made the way wine was made before barrels became a flavor, and it tastes like the valley it came from.

If you have never bought a wine from us, this is the one to start with. If you have, you already know.

Why Choose The Bonner Private Wine Partnership

About the Bonner Private Wine Partnership

The Bonner Private Wine Partnership is your passport to the world’s most extraordinary small-batch wines—sourced from remote, family-run vineyards across Europe and South America. We deliver handcrafted, additive-free wines you won’t find in stores… and the stories behind them. No middlemen. No mass production. Just real wine, for those who crave something rare.

You must be 21 or older to purchase alcohol · Please enjoy responsibly

WE CANNOT SHIP TO THESE STATES:

Arkansas, Delaware, Mississippi, Utah. If you live in one of these states, you’ll need to select an alternative delivery destination.

*Note: Shipping is available to Alaska & Hawaii for additional fee*

Please be aware: We cannot deliver to P.O. boxes. An adult signature is required for all shipments of alcohol.

A note about our Satisfaction Guarantee: Wines, sadly, are not like power tools. A hardware store can always resell a hammer you used a couple times. Not so for a bottle of wine. Once you pop the cork, it’s a total loss to us. For that reason, we cannot offer full refunds on these offers. But don’t worry, if the wine arrives and there’s something wrong with it, just give us a call and we’ll do what we can to make it right. As a member, your satisfaction is all-important to us.
