Most people who buy a ranch at the end of the world get a view.
The Bonner family got a vineyard.
The partnership began in 2005, with a bottle opened in Northwestern Argentina after a six-hour drive up a mountain road — a road that is, for long stretches, a dry riverbed. Then the valley opens, green in the shadow of the Andes, and you taste the wine.
High in those valleys sits Gualfín, the family’s ranch, and on it an old Malbec vineyard on its original rootstock at 8,421 feet. Reclaimed vine by vine, it is now the source of Tacana — the family’s own wine, made with Raúl Dávalos of Bodega Tacuil, the estate down the valley at Molinos whose family has farmed here since the 1800s. In 2024 the ranch made its first white: four thousand bottles of Torrontés.
That is the real-estate story behind this page. Every other bottle here is a neighbour, or a stop on the road there.
