Each from small, family-run vineyards that are overlooked by big importers.

Every fact below is from the label, the producer’s tech sheet, or a critic who put their name to it. Nothing is padded.

The Luracatao valley, vines in the foreground and bare mountains behind
01 · High altitude

Grown at 8,950 feet, the third-highest vineyard in the world.

Agustín Lanús farms Luracatao, a valley above the Calchaquí Valley in Salta. Up there the sun is harder and the nights are colder, so the grapes ripen slowly with thick skins. His first vintage came out so dark it stained the steel vats red. No oak, just concrete. Black olive, violets, blackberry and a graphite edge. In the U.S. it is sold through the Partnership and nowhere else.

Sunal Exploración Criolla Chica 2022
02 · Unusual grape

Criolla Chica, a heritage grape almost nobody bottles.

It has been grown in these valleys for hundreds of years. Agustín makes it from the same Luracatao valley as the Ilógico because he wants Argentina’s old grapes kept alive. It is pale and light: cherry, kumquat and a wild note of dill, with bright acidity and a little grip. Native yeasts, twelve months in concrete eggs. Give it fifteen minutes in the fridge.

Sylvain Paturaux Fleurie La Presle 2022
03 · Overlooked region

Fleurie, the Beaujolais most people walk past.

Most people know Beaujolais as the cheap red that turns up in November. Fleurie is one of its ten crus, the named villages where the serious Gamay grows, and it is far better value than Burgundy next door. Sylvain Paturaux’s vines at Domaine des Deux Fontaines are 80 years old and pruned as low bushes. Blackberry, currant, hedgerow berries. James Suckling gave it 93 points. This is the red to chill.

Tacuil RD Torrontés 2022
04 · Old vines

Seventy-year-old vines, on their own roots, at 7,800 feet.

Old vines give fewer grapes, and those grapes carry more. These Torrontés vines in Salta’s Calchaquí Valleys are about seventy years old and were never grafted. They drink Andean snowmelt. Torrontés is Argentina’s own white grape, and this is the bottle to pour with spicy takeout.

Seclantás Adentro Malbec 2018
05 · Small producer

A tiny estate at 7,200 feet that almost nobody has heard of.

Seclantás Adentro is a small estate in the Calchaquí Valleys, started by Virginia Hasenbalg and Ovidiu Corabianu with Raúl Dávalos of Tacuil. The vines are ungrafted and planted at about 2,200 meters. They do as little as they can in the cellar and let the mountain do the rest: intense sun, cold nights, vivid fruit, real freshness. We have 154 bottles of the 2018.

Verum Las Tinadas Airén de Pie Franco 2022
06 · Unexpected value

A 90-point white from vines planted in 1950. $28.

You have probably never seen Airén on a label. Elías López Montero makes this one from a single vineyard outside Tomelloso in La Mancha, planted in 1950 on its own roots and farmed without irrigation. It ages in big clay tinajas. About 7,000 bottles were made. Mineral and a little saline, with citrus, herbal tea and a lemon-caramel finish. Luis Gutiérrez gave it 90+ points in The Wine Advocate. It is the least expensive bottle on this page.

In their words

From Google reviews. Unedited.

"Found this from an ad on social media. I almost forgot the person I was watching, but I remember the wines. Really outstanding and at a great price."

JJohnGoogle review

"All the wines have been great. Wines I would never found on my own. It even inspired a recent trip to Argentina & Chile"

AAndrewGoogle review

"I really enjoyed the wines from Argentina and the stories that went along with them. I believe they were the best values that you offered. It is fun to be able to try the wines from the smaller unknown producers, I am sure there are many more that could be sourced."

How it works

1

Pick your bottles

All six, any three, or six of the Ilógico. Nothing renews and nothing is charged later.

2

We ship it

Shipped across the United States. An adult 21 or older signs for the box. We hold shipments in extreme heat so the wine arrives right.

3

Open the strangest one first

Start with the Criolla or the Airén, the two most people have never heard of. Save the Ilógico for something off the grill.

Our promise

If a bottle arrives damaged, corked, or spoiled, we replace it or credit you.

Write to us and we sort it out. No forms. And there is no subscription hiding behind this page: you pay once, for the bottles you chose.

Questions people ask

Why these six?

Each one is the clearest example we have in the cellar of one idea from the videos: altitude, an unusual grape, an overlooked region, old vines, a small producer, and value. All six are in stock today.

Is this a wine club or a subscription?

No. One-time purchase, paid once. Nothing renews and nothing is charged later.

Can I order one bottle?

No. Three bottles is the smallest order we ship. Mix any three from the six, or take all six.

Is there a discount on the Discovery Six?

No. One of each is $245, the sum of the six card prices. The one discount on this page is on the Ilógico: six of it in your order and $40 comes off at checkout, so $240 becomes $200. You will see it on the checkout page before you pay.

Where does it ship?

Across the United States, except Arkansas, Delaware, Mississippi, and Utah, where the law does not let us deliver wine. We cannot ship to P.O. boxes. An adult 21 or older must sign for the delivery. We do not ship outside the U.S. from this page.

Which should I open first?

The one you have never heard of. The Criolla and the Fleurie both take fifteen minutes in the fridge. The Torrontés and the Airén go cold, like any white. The Ilógico and the Seclantás want food.

Do I need to be 21?

Yes. You must be 21 or older to order, and the person who signs for the delivery must be 21 or older too.

The videos make one point over and over: the interesting wine is rarely the one at eye level. It comes from a valley people cannot find on a map, a grape almost nobody bottles, or vines older than most of the people drinking them.

These six are that point in a bottle. If you only buy one wine from us, make it the Ilógico. If you want the whole argument, take all six and open them with the friend who says they have tried everything.

WE CANNOT SHIP TO THESE STATES:

Arkansas, Delaware, Mississippi, Utah. If you live in one of these states, you’ll need to select an alternative delivery destination.

*Note: Shipping is available to Alaska & Hawaii for additional fee*

Please be aware: We cannot deliver to P.O. boxes. An adult signature is required for all shipments of alcohol.

A note about our Satisfaction Guarantee: Wines, sadly, are not like power tools. A hardware store can always resell a hammer you used a couple times. Not so for a bottle of wine. Once you pop the cork, it’s a total loss to us. For that reason, we cannot offer full refunds on these offers. But don’t worry, if the wine arrives and there’s something wrong with it, just give us a call and we’ll do what we can to make it right. As a member, your satisfaction is all-important to us.
