A familiar bottle returns

Some of You Already Know This Bottle

A few Bonner customers have tried Kouzini before.

That matters, because this is not a “new discovery” dressed up for a launch. It is a return.

We brought it back because it fits the way we already think about wine: origin matters, harvest matters, handling matters, and the best things on the table usually come from people who know exactly where their fruit was grown.

Only this time, the fruit is an olive.

Origin

Olive Oil Has Terroir, Too

We spend a great deal of time talking about what happens when grapes come from one place rather than another.

Olive oil deserves the same attention.

Kouzini comes from Lakonia in southern Greece, near Monemvasia and the edge of the Aegean Sea. The producer describes it as a single-origin oil made from Koroneiki olives grown in family-owned groves, then cold pressed within hours of harvest.

Kouzini’s approach is simple: move the fruit from tree to press quickly, then protect the finished oil in dark green glass.

Each 500 ml bottle contains the oil from more than 650 olives.

There is nothing anonymous about that.

The family behind it

The Story Began in a Family Kitchen

Kouzini’s story started in 2000 with Peter Kasandrinos and his son Antonios.

They began importing their family’s Greek extra virgin olive oil for personal use, sharing it with relatives and friends. Then people asked for more. What began locally and online gradually moved beyond their immediate circle.

The name carries the same modest spirit.

“Kouzini” comes from “Kouzinaki,” the small second kitchen traditionally found in many Greek homes. It might be outside or downstairs, but it is where much of the real family cooking happens.

That is the right image for this oil.

Not a trophy ingredient that waits untouched on a shelf.

Something used daily. Poured generously. Passed around the table.

What’s in the bottle

Raw and Unfiltered

This is not the kind of olive oil designed to disappear into the background.

Kouzini’s unfiltered oil keeps microscopic pieces of olive fruit from the first pressing in the bottle. That can give the oil a naturally cloudy appearance before those particles settle.

Shake the bottle gently before using it.

The reward is an oil with real presence: fresh and fruity at first, followed by a peppery finish and just enough bite to remind you that olive oil should taste like something.

The producer lists its acidity between 0% and 0.4%.

In 2018, Kouzini received a Gold Award at the World Olive Oil Competition.

But the award is not the main reason to buy it.

The main reason is what happens when it hits warm bread.

At the table

Put It Where You Can Taste It

This is the bottle to reach for when the olive oil is part of the dish, not merely something used to keep food from sticking to a pan.

Pour it over:

  • Warm bread with sea salt
  • Tomatoes and fresh cheese
  • Grilled fish or chicken
  • Roasted vegetables
  • Pasta, beans, or lentils
  • Eggs
  • Salads and homemade dressings
  • Soup just before serving

It also works for everyday cooking and sautéing.

Still, the easiest introduction is the oldest one: good bread, a shallow dish, and enough oil to make restraint seem unnecessary.

A sensible amount

Why Three Bottles?

Because this is olive oil you will actually use.

And if we are going to ship it, three bottles in one box makes more sense than sending one bottle at a time.

That’s really it. A sensible amount of good olive oil to have around.

Good to know

Frequently Asked Questions

What does “unfiltered” mean?

Microscopic pieces of olive fruit remain in the oil after pressing. The oil may appear cloudy before those particles settle. Kouzini recommends gently shaking the bottle before use.

What does it taste like?

The producer describes it as fruity and peppery, with a lively finish and a touch of zing.

Can I cook with it?

Yes. Use it for sautéing and everyday cooking, but do not save it only for the pan. Its character is easiest to appreciate when drizzled over finished dishes or served with bread.

Where does it come from?

Kouzini is produced from olives grown in Lakonia, Greece. The producer describes the oil as single-origin and made from family-owned groves.

How should I store it?

Keep it in a cool, dark place, away from heat and direct light. There is no need to refrigerate it.

What is included?

Three 500 ml bottles, for a total of 1.5 liters.

Is this a subscription?

No. This is a one-time purchase and will not create a recurring shipment.

Why Choose The Bonner Private Wine Partnership

About the Bonner Private Wine Partnership

The Bonner Private Wine Partnership is your passport to the world’s most extraordinary small-batch wines—sourced from remote, family-run vineyards across Europe and South America. We deliver handcrafted, additive-free wines you won’t find in stores… and the stories behind them. No middlemen. No mass production. Just real wine, for those who crave something rare.

WE CANNOT SHIP TO THESE STATES:

Arkansas, Delaware, Mississippi, Utah. If you live in one of these states, you’ll need to select an alternative delivery destination.

*Note: Shipping is available to Alaska & Hawaii for additional fee*

Please be aware: We cannot deliver to P.O. boxes. An adult signature is required for all shipments of alcohol.

A note about our Satisfaction Guarantee: Wines, sadly, are not like power tools. A hardware store can always resell a hammer you used a couple times. Not so for a bottle of wine. Once you pop the cork, it’s a total loss to us. For that reason, we cannot offer full refunds on these offers. But don’t worry, if the wine arrives and there’s something wrong with it, just give us a call and we’ll do what we can to make it right. As a member, your satisfaction is all-important to us.
